River Corridor Closure | About Us
The U.S. Department of Energy's vision is that the River Corridor will be cleaned up by 2015. With the project more than 75 percent completed as of spring 2011, Washington Closure is well on its way to meeting the goal.
The 220-square-mile River Corridor is being closed in stages. Thirteen areas will be closed down between 2010 and 2015. Closed means the area has been thoroughly surveyed by foot and air, any waste sites cleaned up, buildings demolished and the land turned back to DOE for long-term stewardship.
