Washington Closure Hanford leader to chair OSU advisory board

RICHLAND, Wash.—Drusilla H. (Dru) Butler has been selected to chair the Geoscience Board of Advisors at Oregon State University (OSU). Butler is the director of Regulatory Integration and Outreach at Washington Closure Hanford in Richland.
She has been an active member of the Geoscience Board of Advisors since it’s creation in 2001. Butler and has contributed information about Hanford’s cleanup and management challenges and has built bridges between academic researchers and industry users.
“Dru has helped students and faculty understand the approaches that government and industry leaders utilize. She has also been outspoken on the importance of maintaining a robust faculty-student safety program,” said Dr. Roger Nielson, Geoscience Department Chair.
Before joining Washington Closure, Butler worked for CH2M HILL Hanford Group and other Hanford contractors, including Bechtel and Fluor. In 1994, she led the Nuclear Waste Program for the Washington Department of Ecology.
OSU has many graduates that work in various capacities at Hanford. The Geosceince Department offers course work in geology, geography, earth science and geographical information systems.
